  • Route 81 Service has Been Funded!

    9TT received notice on February 10, 2016 that we were awarded funding for the Route 81 bus service from Madison to Middletown.  The projected start date is October 2016.  Click below to see the draft route map and schedule.  More details will be posted on this page as they become available, but see this March 1, 2016 article from The Source.

  • Background

  • The 9 Town Transit Board of Directors created the Route 81 Committee to actively pursue funding for the proposed Madison to Middletown bus route along Route 81. The route will connect New Haven and Middletown, and serve many major trip generators along the way, including:

  • *Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets
    *Killingworth Village
    *Hammonasset Beach
    *Haddam-Killingworth High School
    *Higganum Center
    *Middlesex Community College
    *Saybrook Road Medical Complexes
    *Middlesex Hospital
    *Downtown Middletown
    *Any stop along Routes 81 and 1 along the way!

  • This route will improve access to the Middlesex Community College for residents of Guilford, Madison, Clinton, Killingworth, Haddam and Westbrook. It will also provide businesses along the route access to both employees and customers in Middletown and New Haven.

  • Show Your Support

  • 9 Town Transit needs to demonstrate the need for this service to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. Your letters of support can help make this proposal a reality. You may complete the form below or mail your letter to:

  • Be sure to include any personal story you may have illustrating how this service would improve your mobility. These first hand accounts are great selling points for us and our state delegates.

  • It is also helpful to contact your state representative and senator. To find your state representative or senator, click here. Be sure to copy 9 Town Transit on any emails or letters you send so we may include it in our grant applications.

    • Madison – Middletown Route Support Letter

      Please fill out the form below to show your support of the proposed bus route from Madison to Middletown along Route 81. Letters will be shared with CTDOT, legislators and others who may help to fund this proposal.
