ETD offers two types of transportation specifically related to COVID-19. First is free transportation to COVID testing sites, including drive through sites. Second is free transportation to COVID vaccination sites, also including drive through. Details for both programs can be found below.
Complimentary COVID Vaccine Transportation
Program Overview
The Estuary Transit District’s Complimentary COVID Vaccine Transportation provides accessible transportation within the Estuary Area Transit service area and is available 7 days per week. The service is available to all residents within the Estuary Transit District (ETD). Participant’s taxi rides to designated COVID vaccination sites within the Estuary Transit District are paid 100% by ETD.
Service Area
The trip must begin in one of the following towns: Clinton, Chester, Deep River, Essex, East Haddam, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Madison, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook. To use the Complimentary COVID Testing Transportation, you must find a vaccination site within these towns, Middletown or Guilford.
How To Book A Trip
You may book a trip by calling the taxi provider, Curtin Transportation, at 860-443-1655. Reservations may be made between 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM Monday through Friday at least one day in advance. The vehicle will provide wait and return service, and can be used for drive through vaccination sites. A wheelchair accessible vehicle will be provided upon request.
Attendants/Companions
Up to three (3) companions, including a Personal Care Attendant (PCA), may ride for free with the eligible rider. The eligible rider and companions must have the same origin and destination.
COVID Precautions
All riders are required to wear a mask. The vehicles are equipped with front to back protection barriers. After each ride, the vehicle is wiped down with disinfectant wipes.
Complimentary COVID Vaccination Transportation will be available until June 30, 2021 or until funding is exhausted. ETD reserves the right to limit number of uses per individual.
