Who is the Estuary Transit District?

District was formed in 1981 by the nine towns of the Connecticut River Estuary Region to provide local, coordinated public transportation for residents of the area. The District operates 4 flexible routes (fixed stops with deviations) throughout the region with corridors to New Haven, New London & Middletown, Monday through Saturday. Transit or Dial-A-Ride service is also available in all nine towns on a limited schedule Monday through Friday.Back

9 Town buses are public transportation and available to everyone, regardless of age or disabilities.Back.

What are the operating hours and holiday schedule?

Different services operate during different hours. Hours are listed with each service schedule. Service is not available on the following holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Back

What is an ‘Off-Route' stop and how do I schedule one?

All 9 Town Transit routes operate as ‘Flex Routes. This means that while our buses have schedules and routes to follow, they can deviate off the route within a limited area to pickup or drop off passengers. These off-route stops must be scheduled by 1:30pm the day before the trip. The fare for this service is $2.50.Back.

What does Flag Stop service mean?

Flag stop simply means that passengers may flag the buses down along the route and drivers will pull over at a location that is safe to board. Passengers may ask the driver for stops anywhere along the route.Back.

What does ‘Door-to-Door' Service mean? And do I have to wait outside?

Door-to-Door service means that the driver will offer assistance to all passengers getting on and off the vehicle. In addition drivers will escort passengers from their ground level front door to the bus and back again on the return. However for safety reasons drivers can not assist any passenger in a wheelchair up or down any steps.

Passengers do not have to wait outside for any Off-Route, Transit-on-Call or Dial-a-Ride trip they schedule. They will need to wait at a place where they can see the bus pull up. Drivers can wait no more than 5 minutes before moving on. Back.

What if the bus is late and how can I check on my ride?

Passengers are encouraged to call Customer Service at (860) 510-0429 anytime to check on their ride. Back

What is a transfer and how does it work?

Transfers are free and are issued to passengers who need to use a second bus to complete their trip. Passengers should ask for a transfer slip as they board the first bus. Transfers are only good on the next bus. When you board the second bus give the transfer slip to the driver. Back

What transfers do you accept?

We accept transfers from Dattco's "S" Route. Dattco's Old Saybrook/Hartford Express transfers, CT Transit Hartford, Middletown Area Transit and South East Area Transit. Transfers are onl accepted at transfer points and or the next connecting bus. These services run Monday through Friday. Free transfers from the Shoreline East Trains are available to monthly ticket holders. Back.

How can I get a schedule?

Bus schedules are available here on the web-site, at many locations along the route and on board all our buses. Passengers may request one at local libraries, town halls or by calling Customer Service at (860) 510-0429. You can also ask for a schedule from the Contact Us section of the web-site. Back.

On-Route and flag stop service $1.25

Off-Route and Transit on Call Dial-A-Ride $2.50

Multi-trip tickets $ 11.50

Unlimited Monthly Pass (On Route Only) $45.00
