Buy Passes & Tickets Online

Save a trip to the store!  Order your ticket book or monthly passes online and we’ll mail it right out to you.  Descriptions of each pre-paid fare option can be found below.  Monthly passes for the next month are available on the 15th of the month prior.  For example, May monthly passes are available beginning April 15th.

Pre-Paid Fares


Fares can be paid on the bus or in advance through tickets or passes. The Bus Operator cannot make change on the bus. Money saving tickets and passes may be purchased at the Stop & Shop stores in Old Saybrook, Clinton, or Madison and at Adam’s Market in Deep River. They may also be purchased online using the shopping cart above.

Pre-Paid Fares

Ten Ticket Book: $15.75
Ten punch ticket.  One punch per on-route trip and two punches per off-route or Dial-A-Ride trip. Valid for one year from purchase date.

Monthly Pass: $59.00
Unlimited rides on all bus routes for one calendar month. Off-route trips cost an additional $1.75.  Not valid toward Dial-A-Ride trips.

Senior/Disabled Monthly Pass: $31.00

Unlimited rides on all bus routes for one calendar month.  Not valid toward off-route or Dial-A-Ride trips.  Must show eligibility for reduced fare program at each boarding.  Sold only online or at 9 Town Transit office.

Ten Ticket Book: $15.75
Book of ten tickets. One ticket per on-route trip and two tickets per off-route or Dial-A-Ride trip. Available only for agencies and schools.  Valid for one year from purchase date.
U-Pass: Participating State and Community College Students

Free unlimited rides on all 9 Town Transit, Middletown Area Transit and CT Transit local bus routes. Must show college I.D.  with U-Pass at each boarding.  Passes are good for one semester, but are only available on campus.  Area participating campuses include Middlesex Community College, Three Rivers Community College and Gateway Community College.  Not valid toward off-route or Dial-A-Ride trips.  See more details here.

U-Pass: Lyme Art Academy

Students of the Lyme Art Academy get free unlimited rides on all 9 Town Transit bus routes.  Simply show your college I.D. upon boarding.  Not valid toward off-route or Dial-A-Ride.

Senior Fare Program

The senior fare program allows residents of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Durham, Essex, East Haddam, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook age 60 or over to travel on a donation only basis. Off-route and Dial-A-Ride trips require pre-registration which can be done by phone. Trips on a route only require a 9 Town Transit Senior Fare Card, which can be obtained at our office by bringing a government issued photo ID with your date of birth and area address or by completing the online form here.If your government issued photo ID does not contain an area address, other documents may be presented to verify you reside in one of our twelve participating towns.   A list of documents accepted can be found here.

*Senior transportation made possible by a grant from the Senior Resources Agency on Aging with Title III funds made available under the Older Americans Act. Same day fare is not eligible for the senior fare program and must be paid in cash or ride tickets.

Senior/Disabled Reduced Fare Program

Effective January 2, 2017, ETD will offer a reduced fare for people with disabilities and seniors age 65 or older. To qualify, simply show a Medicare card to the driver or apply for the statewide reduced fare card at Resident seniors can still utilize ETD’s senior fare program.


Transfers are issued upon request when boarding the bus and paying the fare. A transfer is good on the next connecting bus and cannot be used for a round-trip. A transfer may only be used once. Transfers will not be issued to customers paying with a transfer.

Connecting Services

Transfers are accepted from all connecting transit services.  Monthly passes, seven day and day passes are also accepted from CT Transit and Middletown Area Transit.  Shoreline East Monthly Plus Bus passes are also accepted on all bus routes.

Municipal & School Discount

Member or contract town governments, including their school districts, receive a discount off tickets and passes. The tickets and passes may then be distributed to citizens as the town deems appropriate.

The discount is only available online or at our office, not at any retail locations. Purchases made online must have a town or public school office as the delivery and email address. Purchases made in office must have proof of town affiliation.  Discount is not available to state agencies.
